Family/Familie: I have 3 brothers and 2 sisters, but they live with my mum and dad in Conakry, Guinea, West Africa./Ik heb 3 broers en 2 zussen, die bij mijn ouders in Conakry, Guinea, West-Afrika wonen.

 

Home address/Woonplaats: I am living in Brikama with my cousin and his sister. I spent all my childhood time in Guinea and then came to The Gambia. When I came to The Gambia I was sent to school and learn English. I really enjoy living in The Gambia. It is a nice country where people are friendly and nice. It was hard for me to study in my home country due to my family poor background but I am glad my cousin Omar sent me to school through the help of his sponsor: the AlFra Foundation./Ik woon in Brikama met mijn neef en zijn zus. Gedurende mijn jeugd woonde ik in Guinea. In Gambia ging ik naar school en leer o.a. Engels. Gambia is een mooi land met vriendelijke mensen. Omdat mijn ouders arm zijn, kon ik in Guinea niet naar school. Ik ben blij dat mijn neef mij naar school stuurde, dankzij de steun van de AlFra Foundation.

My education/Mijn opleiding: Currently I am in grade 7 in Brikama Upper Basic School and our syllabus contains so many subjects which includes Mathematics and English (core subjects), Agriculture, Science, General science, technical Drawing, Arts and Craft, etc. etc. I shall complete studies in this school in 2013 and then I will proceed to Senior Secondary School to study commerce as my field./Momenteel zit ik in groep 7 van de Brikama Upper Basic School en ons vakkenpakket is zeer uitgebreid: wiskunde en Engels (hoofdvakken), landbouw, wetenschap, technisch tekenen, kunst, handwerken, enz., enz. In 2013 rond ik deze studie af om daarna naar de Senior Secondary School te gaan en bedrijfskunde te studeren.

My/Mijn hobbies: I like reading novels and fiction books and I also love going to the library and read in the children corner./Ik lees graag romans en fictie en ga ook graag naar de bibliotheek om in de kinderhoek te lezen.

Your goals in life and why the AlFra Foundation is important to you in order to achieve those goals/Wat zijn je levensdoelen en welke rol speelt de AlFra Foundation in het realiseren van die doelen: I want to study commerce in the future, because I want to work at the bank. I always admire people who work at the bank or else I will study business management to build my own business when I  grow up. Much thanks to the AlFra Foundation to be on my side to consider my education.     I always feel grateful the Foundation is on my side to help me to pursue my goals in life despite coming from my poor country and background as well./In de toekomst wil ik bedrijfskunde gaan studeren om bij een bank te kunnen gaan werken. Ik heb altijd bankemployees bewonderd. Mocht dit niet lukken, dan wil ik mijn eigen bedrijf beginnen als ik ouder ben. Ik ben de AlFra Foundation erg dankbaar voor hun steun om te kunnen leren. Ook ben ik dankbaar dat de AlFra Foundation mij in staat stelt mijn levensdoelen na te streven, ondanks het feit dat ik uit een arm land en familie kom.
